The Black Diamond Crew and the Hunt for John Wilkes Booth

VA News – Many know of President Lincoln’s assassination, but few know of the brave men who died pursuing his killer – including an Army Quartermaster Corps patrol searching the Potomac for Booth’s escape boat.

This Quartermaster contingent, made up of Alexandria firefighters chartered by the U.S. Army, joined the hunt for Booth. A mission that would end in unexpected tragedy.
