DVIDS – Seasonal allergies happen when the immune system overreacts to allergens like pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. Managing symptoms early supports health, readiness, and keeps Soldiers mission-ready.
Many people can manage seasonal allergies with simple self-care and over-the-counter medications. To reduce symptoms, beneficiaries should:
- Check pollen levels and limit outdoor time during peaks
- Shower and change clothes after being outside
- Keep windows closed and use air conditioning
- Start over-the-counter medications early in the season
