U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs – The VA Central Office (VACO) Building has served for more than a century as the primary hub for overseeing services to Veterans, functioning as the Federal Government’s central site for administering Veteran programs and support.
The history of what is now VACO spans the birth of a new nation and its capital, the loss of a prominent landmark, periods of bankruptcy and war, and a complex legacy of land ownership connected to one of Washington’s most notable families.
