U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs – Inspired by programs that promote healthy aging, fitness, and recreation, the Department of Veterans Affairs launched the National Veterans Golden Age Games in 1985 to highlight the preventive and therapeutic benefits of sports and physical activity for older Veterans receiving care at VA facilities. For 40 years, the Games have empowered Veterans to age strong by encouraging participation in competitive sports, fostering physical activity, and supporting improved health, wellness, and quality of life.
